Playmodes x Liceu
The Gran Teatre del Liceu becomes part of the Digital Impact effect with this piece by Playmodes, an audiovisual research studio working with a mix of creativity, software, and hardware, which will be presenting “pppfff” (pianissimo and fortissimo).
With “pppfff”, which includes an installation (from 18 to 25 July) and two concerts (one on 18 and the other 25 July), Playmodes sets out to implement a new collection of compositional algorithms which, drawing on the traditions of music theory from modal harmony to dodecaphony, breaks the rules in contrasting outbursts.
This work is a variation of their piece FORMS, in which a set of graphic algorithms creates images that never repeat themselves while, at the same time, these images are transformed into sound via an analysis of the brightness of the pixels of which they are composed.
