Josue Ibañez

Josué Ibáñez is an immersive experience designer, media artist and creative director who works with emerging technologies, data-driven paintings and experimental digital environments in Mexico City.

Ibáñez, a co-founder of Cocolab, one of the largest multimedia studios in Latin America, explores the aesthetics of technology and design through digital experiences. Inspired by nature, design and architecture, the main goal of his work is to make a positive impact.

Over the past 15 years, he has led teams that have designed immersive projects and multimedia artwork presented worldwide in places like SXSW in Austin, Today's Art Japan, The Contemporary Arts Center in Cincinnati and Mutek MX, amongst others.

DRIFT

We are entering a new digital age, where information flows in the digital world as the ocean in the real one. This work provides the experience of walking through a field of millions of light particles moving aimlessly as the visitor passes through them. While observing the environment -as extracted by the artist in a series of 3D scans from real-world nature and reinterpreted digitally in actual time- the calmness of the digital surroundings is only interrupted by the very own presence of the visitors.
